Medo, rescued from the horror of Hreša and placed in a safe shelter in Sarajevo, was shot on Saturday in front of the shelter. The surrounding concrete area was covered in blood.
Medo is alive and receiving veterinary treatment. If you want to help, please go here or scroll to the bottom of the page for details. Medo before he was shot
The shooting has been reported to the police have been informed, but we doubt anything will be done. If you read this blog you will know that shooting dogs – and worse – is a common practice in Bosnia and very likely is even sanctioned by the government (see my recent post here). There were many witnesses to the crime, including a small child. Some of the witnesses claim that in addition to the gun, the perpetrator was carrying picks and firecrackers – perhaps hoping to use these on other dogs in the shelter.

Considering what these people did to each other in the civil war, are we surprised? They appear to be devoid of the basic humanities.
Yes, the abusers need to be condemmed but it is also Bosnians rescuing and caring for these animals. A makeshift operating theatre in the trunk of a car is hardly ideal. Plus there is daily feeding and socializing as well as costs for spaying and neutering, rabies and other medical issues. These are the angels that need our love and support. Spread the news and maybe help find a Bosnian dog a new loving home.

Each country has its fair share of barbaric people. Maybe it is time to take out the barbaric people instead of innocent animals, then there will be peace on earth.

Take care of your animals. A lot can be said about a human on how they treat animals! If you mistreat them then you deserve them or a family. I also would not want to be in your shoes when God is asking you why you did this!!!!!
I will never understand how people can be so damn mean to innocent animals. I would never and could never do something like this to an animal. All I have to say is that these people are possessed by demons. There is no other explanation. This is so beyond reprehensible there just are no words….I can’t cry enough tears for all the abused, neglected, tortured, helpless and homeless animals in this world. I wish so much there was more I could do. I wish I was rich so I could donate A LOT of money to help these poor poor animals and I wish I had the power to give each and every animal on this entire planet a good, safe, and loving home with kind, loving and responsible families.
